MXF is a “container” or “wrapper” format which supports a number of different streams of coded “essence”, encoded with any of a variety of codecs, together with a metadata wrapper which describes the material contained within the MXF file. MXF's use in professional camcorder includes Sony's XDCAM MXF, Panasonic's P2 MXF and Canon's XF codec camcorders. For users who want to upload the MXF footage from Sony/Canon/Panasonic camcorder to Youtube, they will first have to transfer the MXF media from its storage device to your computer hard disk, then convert the MXF format to Youtube supported formats.
